Vive la Pollutec 2008 or how to survive the fair in Lyon

The 23rd Pollutec was held in France from the 2nd to the 5th of December. Alternating with Paris as always, the fair was staged in the city of Lyon again this year. The Pollutec had always been a good indicator for the French-speaking market so that the whole industry was looking towards France this year with curiosity.
The question was simple; what effect would the economic crisis have on the environment and ecology fair? To come straight to the point, there was no sign of a crisis. The crowds that came on the first day had never been so big. The EUREXPO fair company opened its gates punctually at 9 am and by 10 am the halls and aisles were buzzing with an interested professional public.
It was our French distributors VIDHOP in Feillens and MDS who were largely responsible for the good preparation for the fair and planned a strong joint presentation in advance. We had never presented so many of our products at the Pollutec before. From the simple, practical ROCAM slide camera to the fully equipped RICO inspection vehicle, the HIGHLANDER RPP© and the “fat guy” – the big FW300 tractor - RICO exhibited German top quality in the field of TV inspection technology in France. Our products were also used by other exhibitors such as BONNEFOY and ENREGIS and created the necessary stir of interest. MDS also presented radar solutions and VIDHOP its “Cyclops” well camera among other things. It soon became apparent how pre-emptive this was.
The number of visitors was even more on the next two days. The attendance on Thursday, the 4th of December finally broke the record. Although MDS, VIDHOP and RICO had a staff of nine people working continuously at times, coping with the crowds was a real challenge. And it was soon a success. The second customer of the first day ordered the first measuring system. The number of direct orders built up steadily and there were twice as many top-class inquiries in 2008 as last year.
The official fair figures are not yet available but the fair company estimates more than 70,000 visitors. I particularly remembered one slogan: "You can hang the crisis in the cloakroom at the Pollutec 2008”.
Oh and by the way, how to survive Lyon – drink very little Champagne and pretend to understand what your French colleagues are talking about at least a little.
We are ready for the next Pollutec (Paris). See you there
A further HIGHLANDER for KOHL

At the end of July we were able to hand over another HIGHLANDER in the Kempten factory of Andreas KOHL from Borna. This carriage is the third and this time of course in the tried and tested standard version, and is equipped with the "Digital picture editing RPP®". The newest WinCan V8 version serves as pipe evaluation software here. This has recently allowed the viewer to move “completely freely” in the pipe using the free view sight programme. This can be done in the office at the click of a mouse.
This carriage was handed over to KOHL with great pleasure by our sales manager Mr SCHERM.
